This self-paced, online program is designed to empower parents, caregivers, and community members with the skills and knowledge to become effective leaders and advocates for their families, especially when navigating the Department of Children and Families (DCF) system. The program offers a flexible learning experience, combining engaging multimedia content, interactive exercises, and downloadable resources to guide participants through critical topics at their own pace. Through this program, participants will: Explore leadership principles and learn how to apply them in family and community settings. Gain a comprehensive understanding of DCF’s mission, policies, and services. Master communication strategies to effectively collaborate with caseworkers, agencies, and policymakers. Build a personalized support network and connect with local resources. Learn their legal rights in child welfare cases and how to access legal assistance. Develop advocacy plans tailored to their family’s needs. Create self-care strategies to build resilience and maintain well-being. Each module includes video presentations, guided activities, real-world case studies, and practical tools such as handouts, worksheets, and checklists. Participants can complete the program at their own pace, with the option to revisit materials as needed. By the end of the course, learners will feel confident and equipped to advocate for their families and foster positive outcomes in challenging situations.
